Approval for Fox Grove
We're delighted to announce that plans for Fox Grove - a brand new purpose-built school in Leatherhead for students with Special Educational Needs - have been approved by Mole Valley District Council.
Our school will help Surrey County Council meet the required demand for SEN places within the county so that local children are able to access education that caters for their specific needs.
Fox Grove will be a new all-through school for 152 students ranging in age from four to 19 and it will be built next to our sister school West Hill School on land at Therfield School as a partnership project.
“We are overwhelmingly delighted with the decision and the support for Fox Grove School from Mole Valley District Council," said Jo Petch, CEO of Lift Partnership Trust. "It is wonderful to be able to provide a new special school for Surrey and working in partnership with Therfield School so that pupils, families and the local community will be able to benefit from the use of a new Sports Hall.”
The plans represent a significant investment in the area entirely funded by the Department for Education, which has appointed Bowmer + Kirkland as the main contractor for the project.
The plans will also see a new four court Therfield Sports Hall, fitness studio and club room have been designed to adapt for out of school hours community use.
James Malley, Headteacher at Therfield School said: “It is a privilege for us to be working with our partners to support the creation of a new, much needed, SEN school that will benefit so many children in Leatherhead and Surrey for years to come.”
Ed Sutton from the main contractor, Bowmer + Kirkland added: “Our thanks to the Lift Partnership Trust, Therfield School, local stakeholders, Mole Valley officers and our project team for their hard work during the recent lockdown to ensure the plans met with committee approval. We look forward to delivering this valuable asset to the Leatherhead community.”
The application is now subject to a referral to the Secretary of State after which we will update the community ahead of start on site. The project team would like to thank all members of the community who shared their feedback during the planning process.
The main contractor, Bowmer + Kirkland, is committed to continuing dialogue with the community. We will send further email updates throughout the planning process.
