Key Stage 4 Curriculum
Fox Grove School Key Stage 4 Curriculum
Our new Key Stage 4 curriculum, which will be running from September 2024, consists of a core curriculum of statutory subjects including English, Maths, Computing, PE, PSHE and RE as well as creative arts, independent living skills (cooking), community participation and vocational learning activities. Pupils will be supported to explore and develop interests and hobbies through carefully selected optional subjects and short courses, some of which will be delivered through college links.
At KS4, we continue to work on raising pupils’ aspirations and develop their confidence and self-esteem while building on their learning and skills progression in KS3. We offer an exciting and relevant individualised curriculum with a strong emphasis on important academic qualifications, functional skills, life skills, vocational skills and employability.
The four ‘Preparing for Adulthood’ outcomes of ‘Employment, Independent Living, Good Health and Community Inclusion’ continue to be embedded in all curriculum areas with an increased emphasis on applying pupils’ knowledge and skills within the wider community. Our ‘Preparation for Adulthood’ outcomes help to ensure those who leave us at the end of Year 11 will do so with a broad range of learning and practical skills equipping them for the next stage of their education.
The table below shows the intended subject coverage for Year 10 and 11 with further opportunities are being explored continuously as the school expands to ensure that we remain aspirational for all pupils.
