Fox Grove School

Acorn & Oak Pathway

Acorn Pathway KS1 & KS2

Some pupils in years 1, 2 and 3 work within our Acorn Pathway Curriculum. Assessed as needing longer to embed learning, making less than expected progress towards Fox Grove pre-requisite stage they are based in the Acorn unit. The pupils are given time and opportunities to develop pre- requisite skills that will enable them to begin to access the early stages of communication and shared attention essential for teaching and learning.

Curriculum knowledge and skills are developed through  TEACCH, 1:1 teaching and Attention Autism. Communication and play skills are scaffolded by adults using Pecs, Intensive Interaction, Play schemas and The Curiosity Programme. The Curriculum is based on Fox Grove Rolling Programmes topics for all National Curriculum Areas across years 1, 2 and 3 using ASDAN life skills challenges.

The pupils follow a 3 year Rolling Programme of core and foundation subjects. Acorn Pathway Core subjects are: English, Maths, Science, PHSE, PE.  Acorn Pathway Foundation Subjects are: Art, DT, Music, Food Tech, ICT, RE and Humanities. One foundation subject is studied each half term alongside core subjects.
