British Values

In 2014, the Department for Education has published guidance on promoting British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. These values include democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith.

Fox Grove is an environment promoting safety, belonging, connection and trust, seeking the human dimension in all things. Our school values and the wider trust values are designed to actively promote and complement the five British Values.

Fox Grove values and prioritises family and community connections and encourages relationships that are based on acceptance, respect, curiosity and empathy.  We offer a culturally rich and diverse curriculum in which all major religions are studied and respected and global dimension work embedded in many of our humanities topics and discrete language lessons (French).  These curriculum topics offer children the chance to reflect on our core values and British values.

 THPT Values

Our school reflects British values in all that we do.  We aim to nurture our pupils on their journey through life so they can grow into safe, caring, democratic, responsible and tolerant adults who make a positive contribution to British society and to the world. We encourage our pupils to be creative, open-minded and independent individuals, respectful of themselves and of others in our school, our local community and the wider world.  Wherever possible, we aim to widen the perspective of our pupils by introducing themes from the perspective of other cultures, religion and in other countries.

Impact:

In order to reflect further on the impact of all our work on British Values, we:

  • Engage governors, families and community
  • Seek out student voice
  • Engage with a range of professionals such as therapists
  • Observe staff and pupil interactions
  • Complete learning walks reflecting on resources and practices.
